Established in 2004, our Chabad House is a welcoming beacon for Jews and visitors in the community, directed by the dedicated Rabbi Zalman Carlebach and his wife Nechama Dina, along with their three children. As a branch of the worldwide Chabad-Lubavitch movement, our mission is to provide every Jew regardless of background or affiliation with the opportunity to discover and strengthen their connection to their heritage.

We are committed to enhancing Jewish life through educational programs, religious services, Kosher and visitor assistance and community outreach, ensuring that every individual can experience and appreciate the richness of Jewish tradition.
Our Services
Chabad of Downtown S. Diego offers a wide range of services to meet the diverse needs of our community. Our Adult Education programs include stimulating lectures, classes, and one-on-one study sessions, providing opportunities for adults to deepen their Jewish knowledge and spirituality. Our Synagogue serves as a central place for prayer, communal gatherings, and lifecycle events, fostering a sense of community and belonging. We offer Bar/Bat Mitzvah Instruction to prepare young adults for their significant milestone, and our Chevrah Kadishah ensures respectful and traditional care for the deceased. Our Holiday Awareness Programs, Communal Lectures, and Hands-on Holiday Programming engage the community in celebrating and understanding Jewish holidays and traditions.We provide vital services for children with special needs, offering tailored Jewish Learning Institute courses and religious instruction for public school students. Our outreach includes Mezuzah and Tefillin checking, Mezuzah loans/service, Kitchen Koshering, and support for significant life events such as circumcisions, weddings, and funeral services. We also engage in hospital, prison, and military chaplaincy, offering spiritual support and guidance wherever it is needed. Additional programs include our Women's Group, Seniors Visitation, Marriage Preparation, and Food Package Distribution. We are committed to humanitarian aid and supporting the needs of our community through various forms of outreach and assistance.
